Who We Are
Meet our pastor and find out more about our fellowship.
Pastor Joe was ordained as a pastor on April 6, 1997. He has served in various ministries at CC El Paso to include children's, marriage and family, missions, outreach, and high school youth. He also served as a chaplain for the El Paso Police Department and Montana Vista volunteer firefighters. In February 2007, God placed the desire to start a new church in Pastor Joe's heart. Calvary Chapel Mission Valley has been prayed for and planned since then. In 2011 the Lord opened the doors to start the new church in the lower valley.
Joe and Emma received a confirmation when Robert and Norma Vasquez expressed the same desires. They took a step of faith and in January of 2012, they started a home fellowship bible study. The Lord has been faithful in growing His church and on April 8th, 2012 Calvary Chapel Mission Valley celebrated their first Sunday service. Through evangelism, church services, and bible studies, relationships with Jesus Christ have been cultivated. Joe married Emma 42 years ago right out of high school.
They have three children, Eric, Denise, and Melanie, and six grandchildren. Joe will openly tell you he married Emma twice in his lifetime. He spent a lot of time rebelling against God. However on May 5th, 1990 he heard God's voice calling him away from a life of drugs and alcohol. Joe's main concern is seeing people and their families experience the same salvation, love, and restoration he found in Jesus Christ.
Meet Pastor Joe.
More About Us.
Calvary Chapel Mission Valley is a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our great desire is to know Christ and is conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations, as such. We are opposed to the emphasis of non-biblical teachings that divide the Body of Christ. We believe that the true basis of Christian fellowship is God's love, which is greater than our differences. Without His love, we have no right to say we are Christians.
Here at Calvary Chapel Mission, our vision is to reach out to the Lower Valley community and share the Gospel. Our hope and desire are to be a beacon of light in our community.
More About Us.
Statement of Faith.
WE BELIEVE:
...the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ's (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess, and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.
WE BELIEVE:
...worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.
WE BELIEVE:
...worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give a great place to music in our worship.
WE BELIEVE:
...worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshiped.
WE BELIEVE:
...worship of God should be fruitful. Therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have been truly worshiping Him.
WE BELIEVE:
...in the inerrancy of Scripture, that the Bible, Old, and New Testaments, in the original autographs, is the inspired, infallible Word of God, a complete and final written revelation of God.
WE BELIEVE:
...in one personal, transcendent, and holy God, the creator of all. Who is eternal, and Who manifests Himself in three separate persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
WE BELIEVE:
...that Jesus Christ, though fully God, became a man for the suffering of death, that He is the promised Messiah, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His vicarious death on the Cross, was bodily resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us. After Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem, enabling them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel to the entire world, an obligation shared by all believers today.
WE BELIEVE:
...that all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God.
WE BELIEVE:
...in the person and work of the Holy Spirit who indwells, seals, and empowers every believer, baptizing them into the Body of Christ. We further believe that the Holy Spirit will come upon any believer who asks in faith, enabling him/her to preach the Gospel in power. We also believe all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Scriptures are valid for today if they are exercised within the scriptural guidelines. We believe that love is more important than all the gifts, and without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless.
WE BELIEVE:
...Jesus Christ is the head of the Body, His church, and that church government should be simplistic rather than a complex bureaucracy. We desire to be lead by the Holy Spirit in all the functions and directions of the ministry of the church.
WE BELIEVE:
...in a personal devil called Satan who, along with all his evil angels, called demons, is destined to spend eternity in hell, and who now seeks to deceive the believers and defeat the work of God, but who can be resisted by believers who are in-dwelt by the Holy Spirit, protected by God, and interceded for by Jesus Christ our Lord.
WE BELIEVE:
...that the nation of Israel has a special place in God's plan and that all the promises of God to Israel will be fulfilled.
WE BELIEVE:
...that marriage is exclusively the legal union of one man and one woman. We also believe that legitimate biblical sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual activities, such as but not limited to, adultery, fornication, incest, polygamy, homosexuality, transgender, bisexuality, cross-dressing, pedophilia, and bestiality are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the Church. Additionally, lascivious behavior, the creation and/or distribution and/or viewing of pornography, and efforts to alter one's gender, are incompatible with a true biblical witness.
WE SEEK:
...the pre-tribulation rapture of the church, and we believe that the second coming of Christ with His saints to rule on the earth will be personal, pre-millennial, and visible. This motivates us to holy living, heartfelt worship, and committed service, diligent study of God's Word, regular fellowship, and participation in baptism by immersion and in Holy Communion.
WE SEEK:
...the Word of God in such a way that its message can be applied to an individual's life, leading that person to greater maturity in Christ.
FAQs.
WHEN ARE YOUR SERVICES?
We have a Sunday morning service at 10:00 am. Our service consists of worship, praise, and chapter by chapter and verse by verse New Testament study through God's Word.
We also have Wednesday Bible study through the Old Testament at 6:30 pm, with a more home fellowship atmosphere consisting also of worship, praise, and chapter by chapter and verse by verse study through God's Word.
We also have Men & Women's studies that meet here at CCMV (look for our event schedule for times).
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Our desire is that you will find a loving and caring place where you are welcomed as you are. Our services last about 90 minutes. Each service begins with about 20-30 minutes of worship and praise of hymns and contemporary worship based on biblical truths. We have time to greet each other (CDC's stands due to the coronavirus) followed by announcements. Our pastor leads us in a chapter by chapter and verse by verse study of God's Word. If you have a Bible bring it but if you don't, we'd be honored to give you one.
On Sundays, we do not receive an offering during our Worship Service although we do believe that tithing and the giving of offerings are part of our worship and between you and the Lord. If you feel that Calvary Chapel Mission Valley is your home church and/or would like to be a part of the work God is doing here in the Lower Valley, you can show your support by dropping off your tithe or offering in the Agape Box located inside the sanctuary door before or after service.
At the end of each service, we give an invitation for anyone that would like to pray to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Prayer counselors will be made available after service so we can pray and share in the joy of this decision or pray for any prayer needs you might have.
Come early or stay late and be blessed by coming and knowing new family members in Christ friendships!
DO YOU HAVE A CHILDREN'S MINISTRY?
We offer Children's Ministry for your children from infant through 5th grade. We have trained and well-qualified teachers who will make your child's church experience exciting and memorable. Our vision here at CCMV is to assist families in raising the future of our church by providing a Biblical-centered curriculum and by teaching, and the use of the spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit to minister to each child.
WHAT ABOUT TEENAGERS?
If you have teenagers, we have a junior high (grades 6-8) and high school ministry that meets during Sunday morning service and Wednesday night service.
They worship and praise in the main sanctuary with their parents and then dismissed to the youth room and receive their own study through the Word of God.
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?
We do not have a formal membership. We believe that all born again believers are members of God's family when they place their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. You can show your support by attending our services, praying for each other needs, and your tithing, offerings, and serving in the body of Christ here at CCMV ministry we see it as a sign of your committed membership.
So, if you are led by the Lord to be part of this church family we welcome you, and pray that you will be blessed to share in what our Lord is doing here at CCMV.
